SOCW 2361 - Introduction to Social Welfare and Social Work Credits: 3 This course provides an overview of the field of social work and the profession of social work. It characterizes people having needs and illustrates how these needs are met or unmet through social welfare institutions. This course provides historical development, mission, values, and ethics of the social work profession. It defines generalist practice and the methods used in working with individuals, families, groups, and communities.
Prerequisite: Sophomore standing.
